Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a singer that was born in Newark New Jersey on the 9th of August 1963. Their parents include gospel superstars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick is also a singer. As a child she was a singer in the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. When she was fifteen, Houston was singing professionally with backing vocals alongside her mother on Chaka Khan's hit song in 1978 Im Every Woman. In 1981, she briefly was a model, and was featured on the Seventeen Cover. Also, she provided back vocals for Jermaine and Lou Rawls. The singer was first a featured vocalist for the The New York-based New York Funk band Material. The quality of her vocal work attracted attention from major record label Arista which she joined in 1983. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut album for an artist in 1985. It featured a number of hits like How Will I Know You're Good to Me, Saving All My Love For you and The Most Beautiful Love of All. It helped her achieve seven US charts-topping singles in a row and surpasses the Beatles. It was the first US year, the album was sold over 3 million units. Then it went on to be bought by over 25 million people worldwide, earning her the first Grammy. The album that followed it in 1987 Whitney which included the hits The Place Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built the foundation of her popularity, however it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard (1992) that established her as one of the best-selling artists of all time. The film and her part in it was not appreciated, but the soundtrack as well as her version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was a hit for a few months in the charts, and she sold more than 44 million singles and albums worldwide. That same year she got married to Bobby Brown who was a ex- New Edition singer. She had their sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together in March 1993. Dana Bash also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz is an American anchorwoman for news and reporting and political reporter for CNN. She has also produced some of the network's weekend programs such as Evans & Novak' Late Edition and Inside Politics.'
